born to an immigrant chinese father and a finnish mother, lumi has an at-home live influenced by two drastically different cultures. still, she, along with her parents, has been able to find a balance between her father's emphasis on academics and her mother's push for lumi to embrace her creativity. as a star student, her parents reluctantly agree to allow her to go overseas to england to attend an international school for the gifted. here, at st. george's academy, she meets many new people, including Jael, a warm-hearted swimmer from Israel who immediately becomes her best friend. nonetheless, as lumi's studies continue and she meets more and more people, she has flashbacks of a life that isn't hers- standing on a beach with an unknown girl, making forbidden pinky-promises to not-yet-acquainted friends, and a bed of blue roses are the things that haunt lumi's dreams, but are these flashbacks really just dreams, or are they memories of a past life?
